‘The Jacques Charles & Robert Brothers Balloon’ is based on the worlds first hydrogen balloon flight in 1783 in Paris. The balloon launched from the Champ-de-Mars, (now the site of the Eiffel Tower) and flew 21 kilometres landing in the village of Gonesse, where the reportedly terrified local peasants attacked it with pitchforks, destroying it.
